Positive behaviour for learning

What is PBL?

PBL is positive behaviour for learning.

Guyra Central School is a positive behaviour for learning (PBL) School.

Put simply, it is a proactive approach to school-wide discipline. This initiative is aimed at reinforcing the positive behaviours of students who need extra assistance to reach the school wide expectations of Pride, Respect and Responsibility.

Since beginning the PBL initiative, we've been able to keep our referrals down, which has increased the amount of instructional time our students receive. We are consistently defining, teaching, reinforcing, and monitoring positive behaviours.

Why PBL at Guyra Central School?

PBL is a highly successful initiative and is being implemented within many schools not only in NSW but throughout Australia and around the world. It has a proven success rate at managing behaviour within a school setting and therefore has been adopted by GCS as another great strategy to help us to continue to grow and succeed.

What are our core values?

Core values are the attitudes the school and community of Guyra Central School believe are required to be successful at school. The three core values that have been chosen for GCS students, staff, parents and community are:

  • Pride
  • Respect
  • Responsibility.

By showing our core values you will be doing your best and following our school rules of

  • Right Place
  • Right Time
  • Right Thing
  • Ask.
