Primary School Supervision - before and after school

School supervision starts at 8:30am and the school day starts at 9:00am for K-6 students. For student safety, it is important that students do not arrive before 8:30am because there is not adequate supervision before 8:30am, teachers are setting up learning activities or they are in meetings. The Guyra Preschool offers before and after school care, and some Family Daycare providers in Guyra also provide before and after school care should your child require it.

IMPORTANT CHANGES for cooler months - Afternoon supervision will be inside from 2:45 - 3:15pm.

The end of the K-6 school day is 2:45pm. Afternoon play is available for students who catch the bus and for students that cannot be picked up at 2:45pm due to parent's/carer's work commitments.

A Student Learning Support Officer (SLSO) will be at pick up gate on Manse Street at 2:45pm for about 5 minutes with students being picked up, and then they will take pick-up students back inside for afternoon supervision inside with a teacher. The SLSO will then take students back out again at 3:15pm. While the teacher on duty will take bus students out to the bus pick up area.

If a parent/carer arrives between 2:50pm and 3:15pm, they will need to go to the office and sign their child/ren out.  You will not be able to call the office to get them to send your child out to your car, you will need to come into the office to sign them out.

Please note, if a student is persistently not following school rules during afternoon play, parents/ carers will be asked to arrange pick up at 2:45pm each day.

Driving and parking

The start and end of the school day are busy times for pedestrians and drivers outside schools.

When driving and parking near our school, please:

• ensure you park safely in school zones
• follow speed signs
• do not make U-turns or 3-point turns outside the school.

Parking on school grounds

• Primary pick up after school is located on Manse Street.
• Secondary pick up after school is located after the bus zones on Marne Street.

Senior students may use the top staff car park.

Disabled visitor parking is available via the main school front gate.
